Recently, I was playing a casual game on Magic Online, and my opponent suddenly stopped responding. I sent him (or her?) a quick message: “Hello? You still there?”. When I didn’t get a response, I conceded the game, thinking my opponent had lost their connection or something similar.
A few seconds later, I got a private message from my opponent:
“Hey, sorry about that. I was trying to figure out how much damage I could do with my Fireball, and didn’t notice that you had typed me a message.”
Thus, I have created an online tool for calculating just how much damage you can do, to how many targets, given the mana that you have available:
I’ve been working on this tool for creating Burning Wheel characters. The main purpose is to alleviate the excessive page flippage that I’ve experienced in the past when designing a character.
Check it out here: Burning Wheel Lifepath Browser/Character Generator
For those interested, this is built completely with static html + jQuery. When you hover over a link, it grabs the file in the /data/ directory that matches the text inside the link and pops it into a tooltip. It currently only works in non-Internet Explorer browsers like Firefox, Safari or Chrome.
Because it’s just static html, I don’t have to fiddle with databases, and I have the option of packaging it up in a zip file as a distributable package.
